Level 1
Kindergarten
Young children are eager learners, curious about themselves, others and the world around them. Using forms of learning-based play, teachers develop a curriculum that recognizes the multiple intelligences found in the classroom, and create lessons to help each form of those intelligences succeed. The small class size of 2:24 creates a nurturing environment in which children get attentive one-on-one assistance as well as group parallel play and social interaction. Children learn social and communication skills as well as academic.
Classes offer a multitude of daily opportunities to develop fine and gross motor skills, and spatial awareness through imaginative, yet constructive, play. Early literacy, mathematics, social studies and science experiences are all part of an integrated curriculum that helps students actively engage in their learning process. In addition to the arts and crafts activities explored in the classroom, students travel to the art studio twice a week, where they are able to further discover aspects of painting, drawing and 3-dimensional building. Bi-weekly classes in Spanish, Music and Physical Education also broaden cultural awareness, global appreciation, natural rhythms and spatial perception.
